It was a long day.
I just had two more stops, so I grabbed the baby and the four yr. old out of the car and ran into the sports store. I sped around looking for kids sandals then ran over to the running department and found the new running shoes that I desperately was in need of. Wow, shoes for Ellie and shoes for me equals (gulp) expensive!
Next, Target. Easy it's next door. We walk over and I put my bag of new shoes in the cart with the baby and we proceed to the hair care isle. Intensely pursuing the shampoos, Ellie announces she has to go pee. Ok, no problem, the bathroom is inconveniently located on the other side of the store, but I am ok with that. We get to the bathrooms and I send her in...alone. I am standing there just minding my own business when I hear that sound. "Mom, can you wipe me!?" (I feel like I've done this before)
So, I grab the baby, the bag of new shoes, and my purse and head in. The baby starts crying frantically and my bag keeps slipping off of my arm while I am trying to wipe the toddler. Then, I get a great idea. I'll just hang the bag on this hanger doohickey on the door while I work on the children.. With that handled, toddler taken care of, I then check the baby's pants. Blow out.
I didn't bring in diapers or wipes...I was in a hurry, remember?
So, I think to meeself, I only have one more item, I'll just wash her up and let her go commando for a few minutes, then when we get to the car I'll stick a diaper on her.
Ok....finally we are heading back to the shampoo isle. We get there and Ellie looks in the cart, "where are my new shoes mommy?"
Heart sinking, I realize I left them in the toilet on the other side of the store.
We run pell mell back to the bathroom, and....they are gone.
Devastated I walk out of the bathroom wondering if someone nice found them or someone who needed some new running shoes.
Then, I glance over to the customer care desk and what do I see? My shiny blue bag of shoes calling to me! Yeah, I am overcome with relief!
This feeling of jubilation is cut short though, friends, because as I am grabbing my bag of goodies the baby starts to cry. I look at her and notice that her pants are wet and pee is dribbling down the Target seat and into our cart.
So off to the baby section, because of course I have no extra pants in the car. Now that would be organized and well, we know that I am not.
:) Have a good one!
