Deals on real food

Our local grocery store puts all of the wilting produce on a stand in the corner of the store and marks it down for mere cents.  Yesterday, I grabbed a bag of soup vegetables which included celery, carrots, turnips, and a beet.  The bag cost us .59.  Today, I browned up some round steak and threw it in the pot with some onions, salt, pepper, garlic and our bag of vegetables.  Because it all wouldn't fit I put half of the veggies in a dutch oven with some of the meat, a can of cream of mushroom soup, two old wrinkly potatoes and some frozen peas.  I then baked that for an hour and a half and we had an awesome lunch.
So, we now have two full meals and hopefully leftovers for about a total of four dollars.  Not bad, huh?!!
I also grabbed a bag of gigantic sweet potatoes for .29 and they still look great.  We will probably have sweet potato fries and hot dogs tomorrow.
