What?

I was perusing through blogs and reading people's descriptions of themselves. (I know, I know ...what an exciting life I must lead :0)
One lady described herself as a stay at home mom with a three yr. old, another on the way, and...a liberal?
What exactly does that mean?
What is the definition of a liberal anyways?
Am I just being ignorant here?
I remember growing up and the definition would go something like this....
"well they voted this way so they must be a liberal."
or "they think living like that is ok, so they are just a bunch of liberals."
Here is something funny.  Because I stay at home with my kids, breastfeed, cook from scratch, walk places to get my goods, wear skirts a lot of the time, dabble in nutrition and herbal medicines, garden, try to recycle what I can, and drink wine, I have been called a liberal...But...because I believe in Jesus Christ as my savior, profess to be my husbands helper in life, home school my kids, pack a gun, and believe that certain hot button issues are totally wrong; I am called a conservative or a religious zealot.  So what am I?  I can't be both.  Why the labels friends?
Why do we have to label everything and everybody?
I say you are uniquely you, and well, I am uniquely me.  If we were all the same it would be a bit boring around here.
There are things that are right and wrong and we each know deep down what they are.  There are things we feel compelled to stand up for, or not.  That's what makes us all different and a special contributor to society and the world we live in.  Do we really need to stick ourselves in a compartment?  Doesn't that limit ourselves without meaning to?  You are what you say you are in a way.  If you say you are only one thing, then, well sadly you will never aspire to be much else, or live a very fulfilling life.
