Home schooling teaches the child and....me.
My daughter has learned just enough to know that sometimes she can get away with "just enough" or the bare minimum. If you are a teacher or a mom you know what I mean.
This is the moment where I have to be patient, able to teach, able to guide in a new direction. I have to be able to show, give example of why the bare minimum is not the best way for her. That it is actually a detriment to a rich and satisfying life.
The first step in this is to examine myself and see where I am just doing enough and see where I can do more. Can I do something better than I have been?
Did I make my bed this morning?
Are the kitchen dishes done, but the counter a mess?
Is the laundry still in the dryer getting wrinkly?
Did I help her with her schooling till I was bored then walk away, leaving her to her own devises?
Leading by example is the best teaching tool available.
What example are we showing others.
