A message

Now that tornado season seems to be slowing down we get to look forward to hurricane season and fire season.  Right now, where we live we are suffering a different kind of famine.  Too cold, too much rain!  I am not sure how much of the wheat crops have survived the golf ball sized hail from a couple of weeks ago and then the days upon days of rain and cold.
I heard from several news outlets that it is not looking good for our basic food supply growers this summer and fall.
So, what do we do?
I know one thing we should not do,
do not become enslaved to the government by "needing" their help.
I know that there are circumstances where we may have no choice but to seek outside help and that's ok.  That's what these programs were set up for.  They are set up for those moments when we have done all that we can do but can't get over the hump. 
I am addressing the fact that we as a society have become lazy and reliant. 
Do you have a plan for this winter when utilities go up? (they always do)
Do you have  a plan for food and imaginative ways to stretch your budget?
Could you start planning for  the Holidays now, so that you won't be paying premium price for gifts and such?

Yesterday I laid down for a nap and was startled awake by a bible verse.
It was very clear in my head and has been bugging me.
So, here it is
Proverbs 6: 6-11

6 Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!
7 It has no commander,
no overseer or ruler,
8 yet it stores its provisions in summer
and gathers its food at harvest.
9 How long will you lie there, you sluggard?
When will you get up from your sleep?
10 A little sleep, a little slumber,
a little folding of the hands to rest—
11 and poverty will come on you like a thief
and scarcity like an armed man.

I am not positive, but I don't think this message was meant just for me.....
