Anew

I quietly snuck out the door and headed down the stairs to head out on my usual path down by the river.  The air was wet and brisk.  Clouds hung heavy over dark looming mountains and the houses were all quiet except for the loan bark of an anxious dog.
One foot in front of the other I ran.
Every muscle aching from the training and the age that has crept into the fibers of my legs and shoulders.  Yet, I push forward.
I breathe deep, blowing out yesterdays stresses, praising God for another day.  A day to start fresh.  A day to smile and remember to love better, to teach patiently, and to be thankful for the bounty that I enjoy.
Thoughts of bills and arguments try to breach the peace as I run.
I shake my head and focus on the river and the ducks plucking along instead.
Focus, and then refocus.
Isn't that what it's all about?
Focus on the good, focus on changing my heart to make the hard stuff better.
Breathe.
Run.
Pray.
As the breeze picks up promising mountain rain, I smile, ahh a new day.
