A rant ...again :)

Last night was kind of depressing to watch.  Our family was really hoping for a change in the direction of our country, but it just wasn't in the pudding.

My husband and I talked about our sadness and the fact that we have to trust that God is in control and infinitely knows more than we do.

There is a huge separation between those who follow truth and those who chase after the things of this world.  Time after time, generation after generation we have seen God pull His blessing away from people who have stiffened their necks toward Him.  Our beautiful nation has given itself over to depravity and sin that would have been unspeakable fifty years ago.
*legalizing baby killing
*same sex marriage
*glorifying and idolizing pop culture and their leaders
*dropping our kids off at movies with plots of children killing other children (Hunger Games)
*Christian women reading and entertaining themselves with books such as Fifty Shades....
*Not helping the widows and orphans
*Expecting someone to bless me and not be bothered with blessing them
*Going to church, but not making disciple's and not loving our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ
*adultery in every form
the list goes on......

Galatians 6:7-10
7 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. 8 Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. 9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

Galatians 5:19-26
19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.

Sadly, as a country, we are following the path of fleshly compromise....and God is not mocked.
What can we do?
We can choose, as Christians, to start putting away the things of the flesh and walking in the Spirit.  How can we lead our children down the path of salvation and a life of blessings if we ourselves are denying God's calling to live right and pure?  How can we raise up leaders who will stand for goodness and love, when we ourselves are too lazy to lead and love others?
