Just a Thought

Happy late Mother's Day.
My husband asked me what I wanted for my special day and I really didn't need a card or a gift that he felt pressured to get, so like every hard working mom, I asked to get to sleep in.  :)  It was glorious.
We also went to church and heard a great sermon on how we are not the  center of the universe. (God is)  And the pastor challenged us to think or even go so far as to write in our planners or journals daily the saying "It's not about me."  five times in a row for two years.
As you think about your day and who you will be interacting with or while you are helping your children, just think "it's not about me" and see how that changes the way you approach each situation.  When someone says something hurtful and we think "it's not about me"...how does that change things?  How can you turn a situation around to bless someone instead of yourself?
Surprisingly when I actually do that I am overwhelmed with peace and joy.  All of a sudden things just aren't that big of a deal anymore, in fact, instead of being hurt someone forgot your Birthday, why not send them a just thinking of you card and write something loving?  Wouldn't our paradigms be shifted drastically?
