Today, I took the girls to our city park. There were a lot of kids there and it felt like mass chaos with boys and girls running around acting crazy.
My oldest, who is seven, jumped into a game of tag with some boys and was enjoying herself until one of the boys started to talk to her.
He asked her how old she was and she told him. I am guessing he was nine or ten. He then looks at her and tells her she is "super hot." She leveled her gaze at him and with authority said, "that's not funny." Stunned the boy looks at her and says "tag your it!" then ran away. She did not follow, she went to play with her sister instead. I was proud, very proud to have a daughter with enough dignity to realize when she was being treated poorly, and to walk away, head high.
