How was your soup?

I noticed a couple of you decided to make soup!  I was wondering how yours turned out, and if and what you did to make it your own creation?
I thought it would be fun to get some ideas and cooking knowledge from my readers to share with each other.

my soup was good, but seemed like it was missing something.  My husband thought some chunks of potato and some green beans added would be nice.  Tomorrow, I will add these items to make it a "new" soup.

  1. We've made hamburger soup for many years. I think since we were married. It's a favorite around here in the winter.
I don't measure anything. I guess you could just toss in the amount of each ingredient according to your liking and family size.

    cooked ground beef
    Onion
    Sweet pepper
4 to 8 cups beef broth(according to family size)
    canned corn
    canned diced tomatoes
    potatoes
    carrot
    basil
    worcestershire
    1 bay leaf

I crockpot this because I like to have dinner preparation done in the morning whenever possible - but it tastes really good made in a pot on the stove too.

We already have our menu made for the coming week but I'm going to have to add hamburger soup to next weeks menu. It's sounding soooo good to me now!

  2. What fun it was to create with the random things that I found around my kitchen that sort of matched your recipe.

Minced up deer meat (from P & W)
Added all of these from my garden:
    garlic 6 cloves,onion 1 large,carrots, beans, potatoes, thyme,basil,and kale.

corn, diced tomatoes, red beans, leftover quinoa, 3-Bean quick soup seasoning mix from Azure, and red pepper (@ 1 TB). I had no beef stock or boullion so I used a stable in my kitchen for soup, Rapunzel Vegetable Broth powder which I also get from Azure.

As you can imagine this completely filled my crock pot!! G S and I will eat this for several days. Neither of us mind a bit, loving having a meal ready, I usually cook too much so that we have leftovers. WE love it.

Wish I could spoon up a taste for you! Thanks for the tip! I'd ask you what's for supper tonite, but at our house, it is still Deer HB Soup!!!
