Hello everyone, from the Dad.
More importantly a child of God and husband to a most wonderful wife.
Some may know this already, but today is our anniversary of twelve years of "wonderful" marriage. Wonderful is quoted because that is an area of controversy in today's society. Is marriage full of wonder or is it full of something else.
In my line of work I am surrounded by many types of people everyday, and as you spend time with people it is inevitable to learn their views on topics such as relationships and marriage. Unfortunately they seem to have it all wrong. They, not only meaning my co-workers, but secular society, and sadly many "believing" Christians as well. Many feel that marriage is a hindrance, quicksand that traps you from the freedom of individualism, recreation, hobbies, and pretty much anything that defines "me". In this dwells the fundamental problem; it is not about "me" anymore.
Marriage is a complete paradigm shift. A movement away from thinking internally to focusing on partnership, togetherness and creating relationship. God designed marriage to be two becoming one and furthermore that "one" is to look toward Him in everything. This becoming "one" is not always easy, however by focusing on God and the other half of the "one" you find yourself full of wonder. How could I have changed so much. How could I be so happy. God designed marriage to be liberating not constricting if only two truly become "one". We have developed a new definition of who we are, what we enjoy for hobbies and recreation. It is all quite contrary to quicksand trap that the world envisions. It is more like the view from atop a mountain peak; full of excitement, not only in the position, but in getting through the trial of getting there.
I am here to tell you that I am in awe of the woman God blessed me with. I always have been and always will be. I am in awe of the fact that I love her more today that ever before, which I didn't think possible. I am in awe of what God has created in this "one".
Happy Anniversary Sweetheart. You are awesome and I love you.
