Give to get

I am a little late on Lent this year.  I have always been inspired by those who "give up" something for Lent so that they may give Glory to Jesus and understand a little deeper His great sacrifice.
So today, Monday, I am going to start a little late and I am going to give up ....Talk radio.  Most of you probably don't know this about me, but I am a  Rush and Glen Beck junkie.  And truthfully this will be harder for me than a food item.
I have decided to replace the Talking heads on my kitchen radio with soft instrumental music or Christian music.
My hopes in this is that my fears will be lessened and my heart more in tune to the Holy Spirit and His leadings.

As spring approaches and a political year ramps up there are a few things to ponder as we get involved in the ebb and flow of the world and it's concerns.
Concerning the occupy groups and pickets starting up, it's hard not to question if a person of Christ should be involved....
We must ask ourselves if we will bring honor to His name through these movements?
Remember the Ten Commandments
Exodus 20:17
You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's."

Instead of jealousy...
1 Thessalonians 4:10-12
"But we urge you, Brethren, that you increase more and more; that you also aspire to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you, that you may walk properly to those who are outside, and that you may lack nothing."
