I was thinking about my last post.
Hopefully, I didn't give you the false impression that we live in this little snow globe perfect world. Yes my man is amazing, but he is also human....and so am I.
So with that thought I will relate to you an entirely different sort of day we had not too long ago.
It was Sunday and we were in the big city for church. It was a cold and snowy January day and I was feeling housebound after a long week at home with four children and no contact with the outside world. So, after church, I suggested that we go to the mall and walk around a bit, maybe go to the book store.
With great smiles around we entered the mall and inhaled the aroma of cheap pizza and fries wafting from the food court. My husband offered to take the baby in her little carrier to Joanne fabrics for some sewing supplies while I took the girls to look at books. Sounded marvelous to me.
So the older girls and I began our journey of thumbing through poems, fairy tales, and cook books. After about 15 min. I hear a baby crying and my husband looking for me. It sounded frantic.
He then comes around the corner, his face covered in blood. The baby carrier is wet. Sweet Heidi is doing the baby sobbing thing wet and covered in blood as well.
What can I tell you about what this mother's heart felt at that moment?
"What happened?" I stammered.
Apparently my man had put the baby carrier on a shopping cart in the fabric store and the carrier had caught on some shelving in the store. As he saw the baby falling, he reached out to grab her, cutting himself on the wire shelves and in the process dumping his soda on her head. All the blood came from his hand that was cut. During the ordeal he had smudged it on his face and it had dripped all over little Heidi as he carried her through the mall to find me. Thank goodness that was all that happened, but it did kind of ruin the outing for the day.
So there it is ...normal, crazy life.
